About Micro Estimating

Micro Estimating is not your average estimating software provider. Our precision, customer-centric approach, innovative spirit, and integrity set us apart in the field of manufacturing estimation. With our comprehensive software solutions, we are revolutionizing the way manufacturers, machinists, and fabricators plan, estimate, and quote projects.

Our History

Micro Estimating’s roots date back to 1982 when our software was written to provide estimation for machine shops and later CNC machines. The company was acquired in 1998 by a screw machine shop to expand into the screw machine estimation market. A new era began in 2019 when we changed hands yet again to someone who was a huge fan of accurate estimation and a pioneer in manufacturing, creating the first instant online marketplace for 3D printed parts. Today, we have big plans to not only provide the most accurate estimation software for manufacturers, but also to educate and make this knowledge accessible for all.

Micro Estimating Created

The first version of Micro Estimating is created. Running on DOS, it allowed machine shops to estimate manual machines and quickly introduced cycle time calculators for CNC Machines.

Acquired by a Screw Machine Dynasty

In 1998, a third-generation screw machine shop owner/operator acquired Micro Estimating to ensure it continued to expand as the most accurate estimating software available. Under his leadership, Micro would go on to add cycle time calculators for Automatic Screw Machines, Swiss CNC, and more.

Our Team

Our leadership is a reflection of our commitment to innovation and precision.

Joseph Rose, our CEO, formerly the CTO, has been fascinated with automating processes and the potential that computer systems have to streamline work. His experience includes designing and building brokering management interfaces and the first-ever instant online casting analyzers for a wide variety of metal casting processes.

Ron Barranco began his career working in shipyards, later establishing his own machine shop and design engineering firm. His journey into software development started with creating the first-ever instant online 3D printing quoter and sales brokering business.
