For the milling and turning done on a gear blank or shaft — bores, keyways, hubs, shoulders — Micro3D reads the 3D file and uses SolidWorks’ Automatic Feature Recognition to identify those features. CAMWorks generates a toolpath from your shop’s own machines, tools, and speeds/feeds, producing real, shop-specific cycle time for that portion of the job.

Structured entry for gear cutting and gear grinding.
Hobbing, shaping, and gear grinding are specialized operations that don’t have an automated way to read time off a drawing, so Micro Estimate gives estimators a consistent, structured place to enter them — instead of pricing gear-cutting time from memory.

Heat treatment as a costed outside service.
Heat treatment is priced through the same outside-services library used across the platform, so it’s part of the estimate instead of an afterthought.
