MicroEstimate was founded in 1982 by the owner of a high-production screw machine shop — someone who wasn’t theorizing about how machine shops price jobs, but running one. At the time, most shops were pricing complex, high-volume work on machines that had nothing computerized about them — heavy-duty, decades-old equipment, run on judgment and experience because there was no better option available. That’s the problem MicroEstimate was built to solve, by someone who understood exactly what got a shop’s price wrong in the first place. More than 40 years later, it’s still the only thing we do.

Most estimating tools work off assumptions — an average machine, an average rate, an average shop. Ours doesn’t. Our materials, speeds, and feeds library lets a shop model its own equipment exactly as it actually runs — not the manufacturer’s spec sheet, but the real RPM a machine is run at, the real tooling on the floor, the real rates that shop operates under.

In effect, we build a virtual version of your shop inside the software, so every number it produces is built on your equipment, not an industry guess. That’s the difference between an estimate and a guess with more decimal places.
